WHO WE ARE
WHO WE ARE
This center is the first branch of MAGIS Creative Spaces in Ayala Alabang and a collaboration with MindWorks Center for Mind Health, Makati.
M2 was founded by cousins Gina Alfonso and Jose Luis Garriz (Josel) who discovered their common interest in mindfulness and healing through the books of Vietnamese Buddhist Monk Thich Naht Hanh:“Peace is Every Step” and "The Miracle of Mindfulness"
Gina has been an educator and mental health clinician for 30 years combined. As she trained as a trauma specialist, she learned about neurofeedback from trauma researcher and clinician, Bessel van der Kolk, author of “The Body Keeps the Score.” In his work he explains that neurofeedback is one among the most effective treatments for PTSD and complex/developmental trauma. It was primarily used to support military veterans upon their return from war, in addition to psychotherapy. It’s a non-invasive approach to brain training which leads to optimal functioning. Now, the treatment has been found to alleviate other issues such as: the symptoms of autism, ADHD, depression, anxiety, etc.
Gina founded MAGIS (Make Art that Gives and Shapes the World) Creative Spaces as a center for therapy and education for people of all ages in 2013, where psychotherapy services and psychosocial support programs are offered. Soon after, she learned that neurofeedback was available in the Philippines and discovered that Josel was aware of and believed in the treatment. This inspired the creation of Magis Therapies and Mindworks Neurofeedback Center (M2).
Gina and Josel, both entrepreneurs with a desire to create an avenue to support mental health for all, decided to join forces to make mental health services more accessible in the South of Manila through establishing M2. M2’s mission is to provide an inclusive place where brain-wise, creative, healing approaches are available to children, teens, and adults.
To support the overall wellbeing, development and mental health of individuals and families through access to non-invasive, brain-wise, developmentally appropriate and creative approaches to therapy offered by licensed and trained clinical professionals.
To become the leading service provider for developmental and psychological services, in collaboration with other therapy centers, to aid individuals and families in improving their quality of life.
